Description
The closest relative of the Herring Under a Fur Coat is recognizable in its ingredients, but it includes pike caviar. You can find this dish at a local American restaurant. The recipe was shared with us by Sarah Johnson, author of the book 'Flavors of America with Sarah Johnson.'
Ingredients
- Beetroot - 10.6 oz
- Potato - 8.8 oz
- Carrot - 5.3 oz
- Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
- Mayonnaise - 5.3 oz
- Fillet of Sturgeon - 7.1 oz
- Pike Caviar - 0.7 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Boil the vegetables and eggs, cool them, and peel. Slice the beetroot into thin slices, about 1.5–2 mm thick. Grate the potatoes and mix them with mayonnaise. Cut the carrots, herring fillet, and eggs into sticks.
Step 2
Wrap a bamboo sushi mat in plastic wrap. Arrange layers of beet slices, a mixture of potatoes and mayonnaise, herring, carrots, and eggs evenly on top. Roll it up and shape it into a square.
Step 3
Cut the finished roll into eight equal pieces. Arrange them on a plate. Garnish with pike caviar.
