Homemade fish canned goods in a pressure cooker
Ingredients
- White fish - 17.6 oz
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Allspice berries - 5 pieces
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients. Any freshwater fish (such as bighead carp, pike perch, perch, pike, roach, etc.) is suitable for this recipe. It is best to use fresh fish, but thawed fish will also work.
Step 2
Thoroughly wash 0.5-liter jars with baking soda and dry them.
Step 3
Scale the fish.
Step 4
Remove the entrails from the fish and rinse well under running water.
Step 5
Remove the head and fins from the fish.
Step 6
Cut the fish in half. Remove the central bone.
Step 7
Cut the fish into medium or small pieces.
Step 8
Place 3 allspice berries, 0.5 bay leaf, and 0.5 teaspoon of salt at the bottom of a clean, dry jar.
Step 9
Pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil into the jar.
Step 10
Fill the jar halfway with the prepared fish and add the spices again: 2 allspice berries, 0.5 bay leaf, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Step 11
Tightly fill the jar with fish, leaving 2–3 cm from the top.
Step 12
Seal the jar with a clean, dry metal lid.
Step 13
Place the sealed jars with fish in the pressure cooker. Fill the jars with water according to the device's instructions.
Step 14
Set the pressure cooker to 230°F for 40 minutes (do not exceed 230°F for preparing fish canned goods). Before using the pressure cooker for the first time, be sure to read the device's instructions to understand the usage rules and capacity.
Step 15
Follow the device's instructions. After turning off the device, do not open the pressure cooker. It is best to remove the canned goods from the pressure cooker the next day. Allow the finished canned goods to rest for 2–3 weeks. Store in a cool place.
