Ingredients
- Small Fish - 2 lbs
- Vegetable Oil - 4 fl oz
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 fl oz
- Water - 8 fl oz
- Onion - 3 pieces
- Ground clove - to taste
- Bay leaf - to taste
- Green peppercorns - to taste
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Clean the fish, gut it, remove the heads and fins, and wash thoroughly.
Step 2
Slice the onion into thin rings.
Step 3
Layer the onion and fish in the bottom of a thick-walled pot, placing bay leaves, pepper, and cloves between the layers, and sprinkle the fish with salt.
Step 4
Mix the vegetable oil with vinegar and water, and pour the resulting mixture over the fish.
Step 5
Cover the pot with a lid and simmer the fish for 1.5 to 2 hours on low heat (on the stove or in the oven).
Step 6
Let the cooked fish cool without removing the lid from the pot.
