Description
A wonderful recipe that can be used as a standalone dietary dish or as a side dish. This recipe does not include sugar, flour, or vinegar to preserve the vegetable aroma as much as possible.
Ingredients
- White Cabbage - 2 lbs
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Carrot - 2 pieces
- Tomato Paste - 4.9 oz
- Water - ½ cup
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Parsley - 1 bunch
- Bay leaf - 3 pieces
- Salt - ½ tablespoon
- Ground Black Pepper - ½ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Chop the onion, grate the carrot (or slice it very thinly), and shred the cabbage.
Step 2
Heat the vegetable oil in a pot or deep skillet. Sauté the onion for 4–5 minutes over low heat.
Step 3
Add the carrot to the onion and stir.
Step 4
After 5–7 minutes of sautéing the onion and carrot on low heat, add a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Stir the mixture occasionally while cooking.
Step 5
After a couple of minutes, add a couple of bay leaves and all the shredded cabbage to the pot. Pour in boiling water (½ cup). Cover and simmer until the cabbage is soft and the liquid has evaporated. Stir occasionally.
Step 6
You can also add more salt and pepper to taste.
Step 7
Garnish the finished dish with chopped parsley, or add it to the cabbage a minute before it's done and mix.
