Israeli Pepper and Lentil Soup
Ingredients
- Onion - 1 head
- Carrot - 1 piece
- Sweet Pepper - 10.6 oz
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Mild Chili Spice - 1 piece
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 3.5 oz
- Lentils - 7.1 oz
- Sausages - 5.3 oz
- Water - 1½ l
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Chop the onion and carrot into random pieces.
Step 3
Remove the seeds from the pepper and cut it into pieces.
Step 4
Finely chop the garlic and chili.
Step 5
In a pot, heat vegetable oil and sauté the onion and carrot until golden brown.
Step 6
Add the pepper and sauté, stirring, for 10 minutes, until the pepper is tender.
Step 7
Add the garlic and chili, and sauté for another 30 seconds.
Step 8
Pour in the passata and simmer for another 10 minutes.
Step 9
Add the lentils, stir, and simmer for another 5 minutes.
Step 10
Pour in water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 11
Blend the soup until smooth, then add salt and pepper.
Step 12
Slice the sausages into rounds and sauté until golden brown.
Step 13
Serve the soup with sausages, garnished with cilantro.
