Description
In the classic version of the French croque monsieur, ham, Swiss cheese such as Gruyère, and white bread are used. In this recipe, they are replaced with prosciutto, mozzarella, and focaccia.
Ingredients
- Ciabatta - 8 pieces
- Melted Cheese - 7.9 oz
- Prosciutto - 4.1 oz
- Oregano - 0.2 oz
- Olive Oil - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place about 25 g of mozzarella on a slice of focaccia, cover it with a layer of prosciutto (also 25 g), add another layer of mozzarella, sprinkle with a quarter of the oregano, and cover with a second slice of focaccia. Repeat this process to make 3 more sandwiches.
Step 2
Heat a skillet and pour in enough oil to coat the bottom. After a minute, place the sandwiches in the skillet and press down with a lid. Toast them on both sides until golden brown. Once the cheese starts to melt, remove from heat, cut into pieces (such as triangles), and serve.
