- Herring - 2 lbs
- Onion - 8 pieces
- Vinegar essence - 2 fl oz
- Vegetable Oil - ½ cup
- White Pepper (whole) - 1 teaspoon
- Red Long Chili Peppers - 2 teaspoons
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Bring vegetable oil and tomato paste to a boil, add vinegar and let it cool.
Step 2
In the cooled marinade, add red pepper, allspice, and salt.
Step 3
Clean the fish without removing the skin and fillet it.
Step 4
Slice the onion into rings, add to the marinade with spices, and mix everything together.
Step 5
Add the fillet to the mixture and stir.
Step 6
Leave for 4–5 hours, or preferably overnight.
