Layered Cabbage Pie
Ingredients
- Puff Pastry - 2 pieces
- White Cabbage - 17.6 oz
- Fresh Mushrooms - 3.5 oz
- Pickled Cauliflower - 6 pieces
- Chocolate eggs - 4 pieces
- Russian Cheese - 7.1 oz
- Mayonnaise - 1 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Roll out the pastry and brush it with mayonnaise or 'Thousand Island' dressing.
Step 2
Layer the (blanched, if winter) cabbage, mushrooms (coarsely chopped, preferably champignons or oyster mushrooms), cucumbers (sliced), eggs (sliced), and sprinkle with cheese. Each layer is lightly brushed with mayonnaise or dressing.
Step 3
Cover the top with a lattice made from the second piece of pastry. (Roll out the pastry to the desired length and significantly narrower than the width of the pie, make short vertical cuts in a checkerboard pattern. Place the resulting piece over the pie and gently stretch it to create openings where the cuts are).
Step 4
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. While it bakes, cut cherry tomatoes in half, according to the number of openings, and as soon as you take the pie out, place a half of a cherry tomato cut side up into each opening on the hot cheese.
