Description
This fish is called melva in Spain. It closely resembles small tuna or large mackerel. Of course, you can use any other fish in this recipe, such as mackerel, bonito tuna, or other similar varieties. The weight of the fish in the photo is 1 kg.
Ingredients
- Tuna - 1 piece
- Spanish onions - 1 piece
- Orange Bell Peppers - ½ piece
- Olive Oil - 5 tablespoons
- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
- Green peppercorns - ½ teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place a pot of water on the stove — this is where you will boil the tuna. Add salt, black pepper, and bay leaves.
Step 2
Cut the fish into pieces.
Step 3
Finely chop the onion and half of the large bell pepper.
Step 4
Boil the fish for about 12 minutes. It is very important not to overcook it. Place the cooked pieces on a plate and let them cool. Remove the skin and bones. This is easy — the meat separates easily from the backbone, and there are almost no ribs.
Step 5
Mix the tuna with the onion and pepper, season with salt and pepper, and drizzle generously with olive oil. Let it rest for a couple of hours.
