Description
Masala is a spicy blend that can include several dozen ingredients. We used about half a dozen.
Ingredients
- Potato - 2 lbs
- Frozen green bean pods - 7.1 oz
- White Beans - 14.1 oz
- Cilantro - 3.5 oz
- Spanish onions - 2 heads
- Black Cumin (Cumin) - 1 tablespoon
- Mild Chili Spice - 1 piece
- Ginger - 1.8 oz
- Black Bean Paste - 1 tablespoon
- Ground Cinnamon - ½ spoons
- Turmeric - ½ spoons
- Coconut flakes - 1.8 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a blender, combine curry paste, chili, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, vegetable oil, and a quarter cup of water to make a paste.
Step 2
In a deep skillet, toast the grated coconut on a dry surface for two minutes, then add the cumin seeds and continue to toast for another thirty seconds.
Step 3
Add finely chopped onion and the blended paste to the coconut and cumin, and sauté, stirring, for two minutes over medium heat. Add the finely minced garlic and sauté, stirring, for another thirty seconds, then pour in a liter of hot salted water and add the diced potatoes. Cook for fifteen minutes.
Step 4
Then add the cooked beans (you can use canned beans, such as 'Green Giant') to the saucepan, stir, and cook for another ten minutes. If it seems that the stew is becoming dry and has a chance of burning, add some water.
Step 5
Next, add the green peas and cook for another three to four minutes, then season with chopped cilantro, stir, and serve.
