Meat Pie with Egg

Ingredients

  • Chicken Egg - 5 pieces
  • Lean Beef - 10.6 oz
  • Dill - 3.5 oz
  • Puff Pastry - 2 lbs
  • Fresh Mushrooms - 7.1 oz
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste
  • Olive Oil - 1 fl oz
  • Onion - 1 head
  • Toasted Sesame - 1 tablespoon

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Slice the mushrooms (I use champignons) into large strips. Finely chop the onion into cubes. In a well-heated skillet, pour in 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the onion and mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Fry the ground beef until golden brown. If the meat is fatty, do not add any oil to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 3

Mix the ground beef with the mushrooms and add the finely chopped dill. The filling for the pie is ready.

Step 4

Boil 4 eggs. Cut them in half lengthwise.

Step 5

Roll out the dough (you can buy ready-made) into a square about 40x40 cm (to fit the length of the baking tray).

Step 6

Cut the edges of the dough on both sides about 10-15 cm (from the edge to the center). Place half of the filling in the center. On top of the filling, place the egg halves. Then add another layer of filling. Using a spoon (or your hands), lightly press down on the filling and start braiding. Alternate laying strips from one side to the other, trying not to leave gaps.

Step 7

Beat the remaining egg with a fork in a cup. Brush the pie with it. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Step 8

Place a sheet of baking paper on the baking tray and brush it with olive oil. Transfer the pie onto it.

Step 9

Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes at a temperature of 200-428°F.
