Description
If you want to make the tomato sauce from scratch, here's how: sauté onion, garlic, and basil in olive oil, add canned tomatoes in their own juice without skin, oregano, ground pepper, salt, and sugar to taste. Pour in 50 ml of water and simmer on low heat for 20–25 minutes. Then blend everything in a blender.
Ingredients
- Pasta shells - 28.2 oz
- Olive Oil - 7 tablespoons
- Garlic - 6 cloves
- Thyme - 5 sprigs
- Dry White Wine - 5 fl oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 7.1 oz
- Pizza Mozzarella Cheese - 2.8 oz
- Marinated cherries - 4 pieces
- Basil - 0.1 oz
- White bread - 12 slices
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a skillet, lightly sauté sliced garlic in olive oil (6 tablespoons). Add the mussels. Sprinkle with thyme leaves. Mix everything and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
Step 2
Pour in the white wine and let it evaporate until the alcohol smell disappears. Add the tomato sauce and salt to taste, and cook for another two minutes over medium heat.
Step 3
Transfer the cooked mussels with sauce to a serving dish, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bake for 2–3 minutes in a preheated oven at 482°F until the cheese melts.
Step 4
Lightly toast the bread slices, rub with garlic, and drizzle with olive oil.
Step 5
Garnish the finished mussels with cherry tomatoes, basil leaves, and serve with garlic croutons.
