Norwegian Herring Sandwiches
Ingredients
- Herring - 7.1 oz
- French Baguette - 1 piece
- Green Butter - 1 bunch
- Butter - to taste
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Courgette - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Slice the French baguette. Spread butter on each piece of bread (2–3 cm wide). Place the buttered bread on a serving plate.
Step 2
Rinse the lettuce leaves and, folding them in half, place them on the buttered bread.
Step 3
Cut the cucumber into slices, ideally similar in size to the bread pieces, so it doesn't stick out or is too small. Place the sliced cucumber on the buttered bread, followed by the lettuce leaves.
Step 4
Take out the herring. It is preferable to use canned herring, which can come in various flavors. I recommend the wine-flavored one with herbs, usually pre-sliced. Place the herring on top of the cucumber on the sandwiches.
Step 5
Slice the lemon into wedges and place each half on top of the herring on the sandwiches.
