Description

Attention! The pots will be very hot, so be careful when removing them from the oven. Serve on coasters! Note: Try adding sour cream to the onion soup. Health benefits! Onions contain sugars, proteins, carotene, vitamins B1, B2, E, PP, and trace elements. The presence of the strong antioxidant quercetin, which prolongs the youth of the body at the cellular level, gives onions special value. Red onion varieties are particularly rich in it. Ingredients

  • Onion - 4 heads
  • Puff Pastry - 4.4 oz
  • Butter - 1.8 oz
  • Wheat Flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Campbell's Beef Broth - 12 fl oz
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Thaw the puff pastry according to the package instructions. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

Step 2

Peel the onions, cut each onion into four parts lengthwise, and finely chop. In a heavy-bottomed or non-stick pot, melt the butter, add the onions, and sauté for 20 minutes or until soft, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Sprinkle the onions with flour and mix to avoid lumps. Gradually pour in the Campbell's Homestyle Classic broth and 750 ml of water while stirring.

Step 4

Roll out the puff pastry into a sheet and cut out 4 circles slightly larger than the top of the pot.

Step 5

Bring the soup to a boil and pour it into the pots, filling them about ¾ full. Cover the tops with the puff pastry circles. Press the edges of the pastry to the edges of the pot using the lightly beaten egg. Brush the top of the pastry with egg as well.

Step 6

Prick the pastry with a fork in several places and place the pots in the preheated oven at 200 °C. After 15 minutes, or as soon as the pastry rises and turns golden brown, the pots with soup can be removed and served. You can press the pastry lid down into the pot with a spoon and mix it with the onion soup.
