- White bread - 1 piece
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Spices - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 356°F.
Step 2
Cut the bread into cubes about 1 cm (whether it's rye, white, whole grain, or seeded - according to your preference).
Step 3
Place the preparation into a plastic bag, add salt and spices (such as khmeli-suneli or dried basil, or if you prefer garlic, rub the garlic on before cutting). Tie the bag tightly, leaving enough air inside so that it resembles a balloon. Shake and twist it vigorously — the salt and spices should be well mixed with the bread cubes.
Step 4
Unpack the bag and pour in the vegetable oil. Repeat the process of 'inflating', tying, and shaking. Make sure the oil is evenly distributed.
Step 5
Spread on a baking sheet, flatten into a thin layer, and place in a preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. You may need to adjust the time: this depends on the size of the cubes, the type of bread, and how well it is soaked in oil.
Step 6
You can take them out when the crust is hard but the inside is still slightly soft, or when they are completely dried.
