Description
Pastrami can be substituted with roast beef, prosciutto, or any other deli meat.
Ingredients
- Pastrami - 5.3 oz
- Mayonnaise - 3.5 oz
- Dill - 0.4 oz
- Gherkins - 20 pieces
- Puff Pastry - 4.4 oz
- Pickled garlic - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 392°F.
Step 2
Cut the dough into squares measuring 3 cm on each side.
Step 3
Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave a small space between the squares. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Finely chop the dill.
Step 5
Dice two gherkins into small cubes.
Step 6
Mix the chopped dill and gherkins with mayonnaise. Add pepper to taste.
Step 7
Slice the pastrami into thin pieces.
Step 8
Remove the film from the dough and place it in the oven for 10–15 minutes, until golden brown. Let the puff pastry layers cool on a wire rack.
Step 9
Place a folded slice of pastrami on the cracker, add a little sauce and some pickled onions. Top with a whole gherkin (or half if it's too large) and secure the canapé with a skewer.
Step 10
Serve the pastrami and gherkin canapés at the festive table.
