- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 7 fl oz
- Dill - 1.8 oz
- Spices - 6 pieces
- Spanish onions - ½ heads
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Combine vinegar with an equal amount of water, add sugar, a bit of salt, pepper, mustard, finely chopped onion, dill, and bay leaf. Place over low heat and simmer for half an hour. Let cool and allow to steep for a few hours.
Step 2
Peel the beetroot, slice it thinly, pour over the marinade, and refrigerate for 36 hours.
Step 3
Serve the beetroot with green salad and herring.
