Description
You can make a larger batch because this appetizer is so unusual and complements meat dishes and cheeses that even the pickiest eaters will enjoy it. It will be both sweet and salty, and thanks to the herbs, it will have a piquant flavor and be very aromatic.
Ingredients
- Plums - 2 lbs
- Garlic - 2 heads
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - to taste
- Rosemary - 2 sprigs
- Herbes de Provence - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable Oil - 4 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Take plums of the 'Hungarian' variety or prunes. They should be firm.
Step 2
Make a cut in the plum on one side down to the pit.
Step 3
Remove the pit and place the plums vertically in a baking dish. The fruits should be arranged fairly close to each other.
Step 4
Peel the garlic.
Step 5
If the garlic cloves are large, cut them lengthwise into several pieces.
Step 6
Instead of the pit, place garlic cloves into each plum, one in each fruit. If there is leftover garlic, add it between the plums.
Step 7
Next, add a little sugar, salt, and season with Herbes de Provence.
Step 8
Tear the leaves of rosemary from the sprig and place them on top of the plums.
Step 9
Lightly drizzle with refined vegetable oil.
Step 10
Place in a preheated oven at 356°F for 40 minutes.
Step 11
Check for readiness simply: the plums should be whole, not falling apart, holding their shape, and firm; the garlic should be soft but not disintegrating; the juice inside the baking dish should be thick enough.
Step 12
The plums with garlic are ready. They can be served warm or cold.
