Description
Potato and Mushroom Gratin
Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 5 tablespoons
- Salad Potatoes - 42.3 oz
- Coarse Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Ground Black Pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Whipped Cream - 1½ cups
- Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese - 4.2 oz
- Ground Caraway - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 6 cloves
- Fresh Mushrooms - 12 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 374°F. Grease an oval baking dish with oil. Slice the potatoes thinly and layer one-third at the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Pour 0.3 cups of cream on top and sprinkle with 0.25 cups of grated cheese. Repeat the layers 2 more times. Bake for about 45 minutes until the potatoes are tender and golden brown. Remove from the oven and keep warm.
Step 2
Sprinkle with caraway seeds and minced garlic on top. In a bowl, combine the sliced mushrooms with 3 tablespoons of oil, and season with salt and pepper. Arrange the mushrooms in a circle on the gratin and pour a quarter cup of cream over them, then sprinkle with a quarter cup of cheese. Return to the oven for another 20 minutes.
Step 3
Cool for one hour, cover, and let cool completely. Before serving, cut into 10 pieces. Place on a baking sheet, cover with foil, and heat in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 356°F.
