Description
Instead of homemade chicken sausage, you can use bacon, ham, or hot dogs, and instead of milk, you can use sour cream. If desired, you can add a bit of garlic to the mixture.
Ingredients
- Potato - 3.5 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Sauerkraut - 17.6 oz
- Wheat Flour - 2.5 oz
- Milk - 2 fl oz
- Homemade Chicken Sausage - 7.1 oz
- Onion - 1.1 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Ghee - 1 tablespoon
- Dill - 0.4 oz
- Sour Cream - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Grate the peeled potatoes using a coarse grater. In this recipe, the star ingredient is sauerkraut, so you'll need only a small amount of potatoes. Rinse the sauerkraut. If it's tough, lightly sauté it.
Step 2
Slice the sausage into thin strips and dice the onion into small cubes. Add both to the grated potatoes and mix well.
Step 3
Place the sauerkraut in a large bowl, add the egg, pour in the milk, and sprinkle in the flour. Mix well. Add the mixture of potatoes, onions, and sausage. Stir again. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 4
In a frying pan, heat the melted butter and vegetable oil. Place generous handfuls of the potato-cabbage mixture and press down with a spoon to flatten the pancakes. Fry for 2 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of crispness.
Step 5
Serve the finished potato pancakes (2 per portion) sprinkled with finely chopped dill. Accompany with sour cream and enjoy while they are still warm.
