Description
To add a winter coziness to the pumpkin, it’s great to include a cinnamon stick and a star anise in the jam. This will create a fragrant concoction that you can happily enjoy throughout the winter. The initial amount of ingredients will yield about 1.2 liters of jam.
Ingredients
- Pumpkin - 2 lbs
- Sugar - 2 lbs
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Star anise - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Remove the seeds and skin from the pumpkin, then cut it into small cubes.
Step 3
Transfer the pumpkin to a pot and sprinkle with sugar. Leave at room temperature for 3 hours.
Step 4
If after 3 hours the pumpkin hasn't released enough juice for the sugar to turn into syrup, add 1-2 tablespoons of water. Add a cinnamon stick and a star anise.
Step 5
Place the pot over low heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Then remove the pot from heat and allow the jam to cool completely.
Step 7
Place the cooled jam back on low heat, bring it to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 8
Sterilize the jars and lids for the jam over steam for 15–20 minutes.
Step 9
Transfer the jam into jars, removing the cinnamon and star anise beforehand, seal them, and allow to cool completely.
Step 10
Store the jam in a cool, dark place and serve it with tea.
