Red Cabbage with Bacon and Caraway
Ingredients
- Semi-Smoked Sausage - 4 pieces
- Red Currant - ½ head
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 3 tablespoons
- Brown Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped Sage Leaves - to taste
- Ground Caraway - ½ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Fry the bacon in a well-heated skillet until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel.
Step 2
In the skillet with the bacon drippings, add the thinly sliced cabbage and sauté for 3 minutes.
Step 3
In a small bowl, mix the vinegar, sugar, and caraway seeds. Add the mixture to the cabbage, stir well, and cook until the cabbage is slightly tender but still crunchy, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Taste and add more vinegar if necessary. Add the chopped bacon, mix, transfer to a bowl, add the chopped parsley, and serve.
