Red Velvet Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- Chocolate 53% - ½ cup
- Liquid dark chocolate - ⅓ cup
- 3.2% Milk - 3 cups
- 33% Cream - 1 cup
- Semi-soft cream cheese - 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla salt - 1 tablespoon
- Yellow Beets - 1 piece
- Chocolate shavings - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the beet and cut it into strips.
Step 2
Break the chocolate into pieces and set aside.
Step 3
Whip the cream in a mixer on low speed, gradually adding sugar for about 2–3 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and whip on a higher speed until stiff peaks form, about 2 minutes. Cover the bowl with whipped cream with plastic wrap and set aside.
Step 4
Pour the milk into a saucepan and place it over medium heat. Add the beet and simmer until the beet colors the milk pink. The longer you simmer, the richer the color will be. Do not let the milk boil. If the milk boils before it has colored, reduce the heat and simmer a little longer. Then remove from heat and strain the milk into a separate saucepan.
Step 5
Return the milk to low heat, add the broken chocolate, and cook while stirring until the chocolate is completely melted. Remove from heat and pour into cups. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Serve immediately.
