Ingredients
- Onion - 1 head
- Fennel - 1 piece
- Nigella Seeds - ½ teaspoon
- Olive Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Long-Grain Rice - 1 cup
- Raisins - 2.1 oz
- Water - 2 cups
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Heat a skillet and add olive oil. Add the diced fennel and onion, raisins, fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of pepper. Cook over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring, until the vegetables are soft.
Step 2
Add the rice and stir for 1 minute. Then pour in the water, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and cook for about 20 minutes, until the rice is tender and the liquid has evaporated.
Step 3
Remove from heat, uncover, cover with a towel, then with a lid, and let sit for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
