Rustic Beef Pastry Appetizer
Ingredients
- Beef - 20.1 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Campbell's Beef Broth - 8 fl oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Dry White Wine - 3 tablespoons
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Ground Caraway - ¾ teaspoon
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper - ½ teaspoon
- Puff Pastry - 17.6 oz
- Corn Starch - 1½ teaspoons
- Water - 2 teaspoons
- Chopped Sage Leaves - 2 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 392°F. Cut the meat into 3 pieces. In a pot, combine the meat, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, broth, tomato paste, wine, bay leaf, caraway, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour and 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes until tender. Transfer the meat to a plate and shred into small pieces with 2 forks.
Step 2
Meanwhile, place the pastry on a floured surface. Roll it out and cut into many 8x8 cm squares. Grease muffin tins and place the pastry squares at the bottom of the molds. Bake at 392°F for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Cool and remove from the molds.
Step 3
In a small pot, bring 240 ml of the meat broth to a boil. Mix the cornstarch and water and pour it into the broth. Cook for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Add the shredded meat and mix well. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture into each pastry mold and sprinkle with parsley. Serve immediately.
