Ingredients
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Unleavened dough - 2 lbs
- Milk - 1 tablespoon
- Semi-Smoked Sausage - 8 pieces
- Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Divide the dough into balls weighing 70 g each. Size - like a tennis ball.
Step 2
Roll each ball into a flat round and place a peeled sausage inside.
Step 3
Fold like a dumpling and seal the edges, pressing the sausage tightly against the dough.
Step 4
Cut across into 8 pieces, leaving the base uncut.
Step 5
Place the bottom piece to the left while simultaneously turning it (set it like a stump), the next to the right, and continue in a checkerboard pattern.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 428°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let the buns rise in a warm place for 15 minutes. Brush the tops with egg and milk.
Step 7
Optionally, you can drizzle the tops with ketchup in zigzags, sprinkle with Parmesan and dill.
Step 8
Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
