- Pearl barley - ½ cup
- Lamb - 2 qt
- Onion - 4.2 oz
- Turnips - 4.4 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Carrot - 4.4 oz
- Chopped Sage Leaves - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Bring 2 liters of lamb broth, either pure or with added chicken broth, to a gentle boil.
Step 2
Add ½ cup of barley, lentils, or nearly cooked white beans (or add canned beans later), along with diced onion, turnip, and carrot. Cover loosely with a lid and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes, until the vegetables are tender. Add salt and spices to taste.
Step 3
Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve.
