Shrimp Toasts
Ingredients
- Peeled Cooked Shrimp - 17.6 oz
- Butter - 0.9 oz
- Olive Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour - 1 tablespoon
- Milk - 17 fl oz
- Red Curry Powder - a pinch
- Sourdough Bread - 12 pieces
- Gruyère cheese - 1.8 oz
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
If the shrimp are very large, cut each in half. Melt the butter with the olive oil in a saucepan over low heat, then add the shrimp and cook, stirring, for 3–4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are nearly cooked. Then use a slotted spoon to transfer the shrimp to a plate.
Step 2
In the saucepan where the shrimp were cooked, add the flour, mix well, and gradually pour in the milk while constantly stirring with a wooden spoon. Cook the sauce for 10 minutes over low heat, then add the curry powder—if using—and season with salt to taste. Return the shrimp to the sauce and mix well. Then spread the mixture over the slices of bread and sprinkle with grated cheese.
Step 3
Place the toasts on baking paper and put them in a preheated oven at 356°F—bake for 5 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden. Transfer to a large plate and serve immediately.
