Description
Simple potato pancakes are a beloved dish that brings back memories of home cooking. These crispy, golden-brown delights are made from grated potatoes, onions, and a touch of seasoning, then fried to perfection. Serve them with sour cream or applesauce for a delightful meal that everyone will enjoy.
Ingredients
- Potato - 10 pieces
- Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 7 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the potatoes and grate them using the finest grater.
Step 2
Place a mesh strainer over a pot to catch the juice. Transfer the mashed potatoes into the strainer and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Once the juice has drained, transfer the potato mixture to another container, and carefully pour the juice out of the pot. A layer of starch will remain at the bottom of the pot, which should be added back to the potato mixture.
Step 4
Thoroughly mix the potato mixture, starch, and 2 eggs.
Step 5
Fry the resulting dough in sunflower oil in a thick-bottomed pan, shaping it into patties about 8–9 mm thick. First, cook for 2–3 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for about 1.5 minutes on the other side. The heat should be fairly high, above medium — this can be adjusted based on different stovetops.
