- Onion - 1 head
- Lean Beef - 2 lbs
- Garlic - 5 cloves
- Campbell's Beef Broth - 8 fl oz
- Mild Chili Spice - 2.6 oz
- Ground Cumin - 1 tablespoon
- Cocoa Powder - 1 tablespoon
- Coarse Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Canned Baby Beets - 31.7 oz
- Crushed Tomatoes in Their Own Juice - 14.5 oz
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Heat a deep skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and brown for 5 minutes. Add the finely chopped onion, mix well, and sauté for 3-5 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Step 2
Slowly pour in the broth, breaking up the meat lumps. Then add the chili, cumin, cocoa, and tomatoes. Slightly reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Add the beans, vinegar, and salt, and mix well. Without covering, cook for another 10 minutes. Taste and adjust the spices and salt as needed. Serve hot with sour cream and cornbread.
