Stuffed Lettuce with Bacon

Ingredients

  • Eel - 4 pieces
  • Butter - 1.4 oz
  • Onion - 1 head
  • Meat - 8.8 oz
  • Ham - 2.3 oz
  • White bread - 1.8 oz
  • Egg white - 1 piece
  • Bacon - 1.8 oz
  • Chicken Broth - 9 fl oz
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Remove the outer leaves and cut off the stem. Finely chop the onion. Cut the meat and ham into small pieces.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the lettuce, bring back to a boil, and cook for 2 minutes. Then remove and let it dry.

Step 3

Melt 25 grams of butter in a skillet, add the onion, and cook over low heat, stirring, for 5 minutes until soft. Transfer to a bowl, add the meat, lightly beaten egg, and breadcrumbs, and mix well. Season with salt and pepper and fill the lettuce with this mixture. Then tie the leaves together to conceal the filling.

Step 4

Place slices of bacon at the bottom of a baking dish, put the stuffed lettuce on top, and sprinkle with the remaining butter pieces. Pour in the broth and bake at 320°F for 30 minutes.
