- Water - 4 qt
- Smoked Ham on the Bone - 15.9 oz
- Mustard Greens - 2 lbs
- Spanish onions - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour water into a pot and add the chopped ham. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 1.5 hours. Strain the broth.
Step 2
Bring the broth back to a boil, season with salt and pepper, add the greens in batches, set to medium heat, cover, and cook for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Drain the broth, leaving a small amount. Divide the greens into serving bowls. Pour a small amount of broth into each, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with sliced onion.
