Description
A simple Italian dip, characterized by cannellini white beans and basil. Similar to hummus, you can use dry white beans—soaked in cold water beforehand and boiled for about an hour and a half. You can cook them with a whole onion, a tomato, and a couple of sprigs of dill added to the water.
Ingredients
- White Beans - 10.6 oz
- Tomatoes - ½ pieces
- Fresh basil leaves - 0.4 oz
- Olive Oil - 4 spoons
- Basil - 0.4 oz
- TABASCO® - to taste
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 2 spoons
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Drain the liquid from the cans of beans into a bowl — it may come in handy. Rinse the beans well and transfer them to another bowl.
Step 2
Add half a peeled and seeded tomato, finely chopped basil, olive oil, lemon juice, Tabasco, salt, and a couple of tablespoons of water to it.
Step 3
Blend everything together, adding a little water or the liquid left from the beans if the dip becomes too thick.
Step 4
Before serving, refrigerate the sauce for one hour.
