Description

I must warn you that the cut piece will likely not hold its usual shape. Don't worry; it's not supposed to. If the cut piece crumbles, it's a sure sign that you did everything right. You will have delicious baked berries and fruits with a small amount of tender dough.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Egg - 3 pieces
  • Sugar - 6 oz
  • Coarsely Ground Rye Flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Wheat Flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Walnuts - to taste
  • Ground Cinnamon - to taste
  • Apple - 1 piece
  • Powdered Sugar - to taste
  • Muesli - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

For the batter, as usual, beat the eggs with a little less than a glass of sugar. But this time, we will use not two, but three eggs. Beat until it reaches a fluffy foam. The volume in the bowl should increase at least twice.

Step 2

Next, as usual, flour, but for variety, we will take two tablespoons of rye flour and add one tablespoon of wheat flour.

Step 3

Add a teaspoon of baking powder, vanilla, and a handful of walnuts to the batter.

Step 4

Grease the baking dish well with butter, don't forget the sides.

Step 5

Instead of breadcrumbs, and some even manage to use semolina, sprinkle a thin layer of muesli on the bottom. The more elaborate your muesli composition, the better. If it includes nuts, honey, and fruits, that's even better.

Step 6

Cut the apples — a lot, a whole lot! Cut the plums — also a lot (by the way, you can replace the plums with black currants — it will be wonderful too!). The dish should be completely filled and even slightly heaped.

Step 7

Then pour the batter over the top.

Step 8

Place in the oven, bake at 356°F on the lower rack for 50–60 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick. It should come out dry, or if it's wet, it should definitely not be in the batter.

Step 9

When the cake is ready, leave it in the oven for a while with the door slightly ajar.

Step 10

Then remove it, gently shake the dish; if the cake is stuck to the sides, run the same toothpick along the edges and turn it out onto a plate. When the cake has completely cooled, sprinkle it with powdered sugar and cinnamon on top.

Step 11

Start eating whenever you feel like it. Those who like it warm can enjoy it warm, perhaps with ice cream, and those who prefer it cold can have it cold. Sometimes I drizzle maple syrup on top. Be sure to eat it with a small fork, savoring and enjoying.
