Apple-Date Pastry
Ingredients
- Dates - 10.6 oz
- Antonovka apples - 3 pieces
- Grapeseed Oil - 2 fl oz
- Honey - 3 spoons
- Oat flakes - 1 glass
- Wheat Flour - ½ glasses
- Baking Powder - 2 spoons
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Walnuts - 0.9 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the apples and remove the cores, and pit the dates. Cut the fruits into small cubes.
Step 2
Zest the lemon and squeeze out the juice.
Step 3
In a saucepan, warm the lemon juice, zest, honey, and cinnamon.
Step 4
Then add the dates, remove from heat, and let sit for five minutes to allow the dates to soak up the juice.
Step 5
Next, in order, add: apples, butter, oats, and flour (you can include a small amount of baking powder).
Step 6
Spread in a baking dish in a layer 2.5–3 cm thick, sprinkle with lemon zest on top, and place in a preheated oven at 356°F.
Step 7
Remove the baking dish after twenty minutes, score it into even portions with a knife, and decorate each portion with a walnut. Return it to the oven for another 5–7 minutes.
