Description
A simple version of an apple pie that is not only delicious but also beautiful. The filling is the star here: there is much more of it than the dough. Making a galette is a bit more challenging than preparing a traditional apple crisp; the dough needs to be kneaded and rested, the apples must be marinated in brandy and maple syrup, and then carefully wrapped in thin dough. Overall, the recipe is straightforward—anyone can manage it. You can also make a galette, for example, with pears.
Ingredients
- Antonovka apples - 10.6 oz
- Wheat Flour - 10.6 oz
- Butter - 4.2 oz
- Ghee - 1.4 oz
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Maple syrup - 1 fl oz
- Cognac - 1 fl oz
- Cinnamon - to taste
- Demerara Sugar - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the cold butter into small cubes. Sift the flour, mix in the butter cubes and granulated sugar, then sprinkle with cold water. Knead the dough, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an hour.
Step 2
Thinly slice the apples and marinate them in cognac and syrup for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Roll out the dough, place a thin layer of apples on top, sprinkle with cinnamon and demerara sugar, fold the edges of the dough inward, brush with melted butter, and bake at 374°F for 30 minutes.
