Description
Apple Galette with Almonds
Ingredients
- Apple - 17.6 oz
- Wheat Flour - 7.1 oz
- Butter - 4.2 oz
- Water - 1 fl oz
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - ¼ teaspoon
- Nutmeg - ½ teaspoon
- Ginger - ½ teaspoon
- Honey - 4 tablespoons
- Chopped almonds - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a deep bowl, mix the flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, salt, ground ginger, and nutmeg. Add 100 g of diced butter and rub the butter into the flour with a fork until crumbly. Gradually add the ice water by the tablespoon (you can add a little more than specified, just ensure the dough holds together), knead the dough, form it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Step 2
Meanwhile, prepare the apples: core and slice them. You can peel them if the skin is tough.
Step 3
Roll out the dough into a circle with a diameter of 30 cm and a thickness of 3–4 mm, transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and arrange the apples on top, leaving 4–5 cm from the edge. Drizzle with honey (you can use more than specified if the apples are not sweet enough), evenly distribute the remaining butter on top, fold the edges, and sprinkle with a little chopped almonds (or almond flakes).
Step 4
Bake at 392°F for about 25–30 minutes until the dough is cooked through.
