Apple Pie with Meringue

Ingredients

  • Butter - 7.1 oz
  • Sugar - 1½ cups
  • Whole egg - 3 pieces
  • Wheat Flour - 1 cup
  • Activated Baking Soda - ½ teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Egg white - 3 pieces
  • Apple - 4 pieces

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. The egg whites will be used for the meringue — place them in the refrigerator. Chilled egg whites whip well.

Step 2

Whip the room temperature butter until fluffy.

Step 3

Mix the yolks with sugar (1 cup). Combine the baking soda, salt, and flour, and add to the yolk mixture.

Step 4

Then, mix the entire mass with the butter using a spoon and whip.

Step 5

Divide the dough (the entire mass) into 2 parts and wrap in plastic wrap — send 1/3 to the freezer and 2/3 to the refrigerator.

Step 6

Take out the part that was placed in the refrigerator and spread it in the baking dish.

Step 7

Peel the apples and grate them on a coarse grater. Layer the grated apples on top of the dough.

Step 8

For the meringue, whip the egg whites with sugar (0.5 cup). Then, spread them over the apple layer.

Step 9

Finally, grate the part of the dough from the freezer and layer it over the whipped egg whites. Bake the pie in the oven for half an hour (the top of the pie should be golden brown). Temperature — 374°F.
