Description

Delicate and beautiful puff pastries shaped like rose buds, with tender baked slices of apple and crispy pastry. Wrapping and preparing them is much easier than it seems at first glance. The pastries themselves are not very sweet; if you prefer a sweeter version, be sure to generously sprinkle them with powdered sugar. This recipe yields approximately 12 pieces.

Ingredients

  • Pickled Apples - 2 pieces
  • Puff Pastry - 8.8 oz
  • Sugar - 3 tablespoons
  • Powdered Sugar - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Cut the apples into quarters and remove the inedible parts. Slice them thinly, about 2 mm thick.

Step 2

Pour 200 ml of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the sugar.

Step 3

Place the apple slices into the boiling water. Cook for no more than 2-3 minutes, then drain the water (the apples should become flexible).

Step 4

Roll out the thawed pastry thinly (1-2 mm thick). Cut into strips 3 cm wide and 25-30 cm long.

Step 5

Place 5 apple slices on a strip of pastry, slightly overlapping. The slices should extend about one-third over the top edge of the pastry. Carefully roll the strip into a tube.

Step 6

Tuck the bottom edges of the pastry inward.

Step 7

Arrange the prepared roses on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in a preheated oven at 392°F. Bake for about 30 minutes.

Step 8

Allow the finished pastries to cool completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
