Description
Apple strudel with almonds
Ingredients
- Green Apples - 4 pieces
- Butter - 1.1 oz
- Orange juice concentrate - 2 spoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 2.1 oz
- Puff Pastry - 17.6 oz
- Ground Almonds - 1.6 oz
- Brown Sugar - 2 spoons
- Light Raisins, Seedless - 2.1 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 428°F. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets with oil. Peel the apples, remove the core, and slice them thinly. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the apples, and cook for 2 minutes until golden. Add the orange juice, honey, sugar, and raisins. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the apples become soft. Transfer the filling to a bowl.
Step 2
Place half of the dough on a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle. Fold the sheet in half and make two-centimeter cuts along the folded edge, then unfold the dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Drain the liquid from the filling and place the halves in the center of the sheet. Brush the edges with lightly beaten egg and fold them together, gently pressing to seal.
Step 3
Place the strudel on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Brush the top with egg and sprinkle with half of the brown sugar mixed with cinnamon. Repeat the same process with the second half of the dough and the remaining filling. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden and crispy.
Step 4
Serve hot with cream or ice cream.
