Description
The beauty of this recipe is that you can use store-bought puff pastry, which makes everything much simpler.
Ingredients
- Sugar - 2 spoons
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla salt - a pinch
- Semolina - 1 tablespoon
- Apple - 14.1 oz
- Puff Pastry - 7.1 oz
- Grated Lemon Zest - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the apples and slice them into 'petals' using a vegetable peeler, then mix with sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest, and vanilla.
Step 2
Let the apples sit for a while, about 20 minutes, to release their juices, then drain the juice.
Step 3
Roll out the dough into a thin layer (about 3 mm) in the shape of a rectangle.
Step 4
Spread the resulting filling evenly (about 0.6 inches thick) over the rolled-out dough, and sprinkle with semolina to absorb any excess moisture. Roll it up into a log, pinching the edges to seal so that the juice doesn't leak out.
Step 5
Brush the resulting roll with an egg beaten with sugar.
Step 6
Place in a preheated oven and bake at 347°F for 35–40 minutes.
