Description
Austrian Raindling
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Butter - 5.3 oz
- Milk - 8 fl oz
- Dry yeast - 0.7 oz
- Brown Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Salt - a pinch
- Star anise - ½ teaspoon
- Sugar - ½ cup
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Walnuts - 1.8 oz
- Pitted olives - 1.8 oz
- Cognac - 2 tablespoons
- Raisins - 1.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Chop the dates, mix with raisins, and marinate in cognac for about 1 hour.
Step 2
Combine the yeast with brown sugar and dissolve in warm milk. Then add the flour, room temperature butter, egg, salt, and anise. Knead the dough. If the dough is too runny, add a little flour. Let the dough rise, then knead again and let it rise once more.
Step 3
On a work surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and chopped walnuts. Roll tightly into a log and place it in a circular shape in a buttered round pan with a hole in the middle.
Step 4
Bake in the oven at 356°F for 45-50 minutes.
