Description
Baked figs with red wine, nuts, and mascarpone
Ingredients
- Red Grape Juice - 8 fl oz
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Balsamic Vinegar - 0.5 tablespoon
- Green Figs - 15.9 oz
- Walnuts - 3.5 oz
- Mascarpone Cheese Unagrande - 4.2 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Trim the stems off the figs.
Step 2
In a heavy three-liter pot, combine the wine, vinegar, and sugar over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Then add the figs and cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 3
Pour the contents of the pot into a two-liter glass or ceramic baking dish, sprinkle with toasted walnuts, and place in an oven preheated to 374°F.
Step 4
Bake on the middle rack for about 30 minutes, until the figs are soft and have absorbed 2/3 of the liquid. After baking, let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
Step 5
Serve the figs warm with the syrup they were baked in and mascarpone cheese.
