Description
It is better to choose an unripe melon or a firmer variety — a juicy melon releases too much liquid when baked.
Ingredients
- Watermelon - 3 lbs
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Brown Sugar - to taste
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cinnamon - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Remove the seeds and skin from the melon, cut it into slices 1-1.5 cm thick, layer them in a baking dish, drizzle with lemon juice, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, add another layer of melon slices, drizzle again with lemon juice, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Step 2
Slice the oranges into rings and place them on top of the melon.
Step 3
Place in the oven and bake at maximum temperature for 1 to 1.5 hours until the oranges are nicely browned (they can be discarded afterward).
