Baklava with Walnuts and Almonds
Ingredients
- Phyllo Dough - 17.6 oz
- Shelled pumpkin seeds - 21.2 oz
- Chopped almonds - 14.1 oz
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Margarine - 3.5 oz
- Cinnamon - 3 teaspoons
- Sugar - 21.2 oz
- Ground clove - ½ teaspoon
- Honey - 3.5 oz
- Lemon - ½ piece
- Brandy - 2 tablespoons
- Vanillin - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the chopped almonds, coarsely chopped walnuts, cinnamon, and cloves. Melt the margarine and butter.
Step 2
Layer 4 sheets of phyllo dough on a baking tray, brushing each layer with butter and sprinkling a little of the nut mixture on top.
Step 3
Sprinkle a thick layer of nuts in the center of the dough and cover it with the next 4 sheets of dough, brushing with butter and adding nuts.
Step 4
Cut the pie into small square portions. Pour the remaining butter over it. Bake for 30–40 minutes at 347°F.
Step 5
Dissolve the sugar and honey in 400 ml of water, add vanilla, lemon zest, and brandy. Boil for 5 minutes and let it cool slightly. Pour the syrup over the finished baklava and let it soak.
