Banana Pie with Vanilla Extract
Ingredients
- Sugar - 5.3 oz
- Wheat Flour - 1.4 oz
- Bananas - 4 pieces
- Salt - ¼ teaspoon
- Milk - 16 fl oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Vanilla extract - ¼ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually add milk while stirring gently. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to boil. Continue stirring and cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
Step 2
Stir a small amount of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks and immediately add the yolk mixture to the remaining hot mixture. Cook for another 2 minutes, remembering to stir constantly. Remove the mixture from heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir until the mixture is smooth.
Step 3
Slice the bananas and place them at the bottom of the cooled baked pie crust. Spread the cream filling over the bananas.
Step 4
Bake at 356°F for 12–15 minutes. Allow the pie to cool for an hour.
Step 5
Just before serving, garnish with banana slices to prevent them from browning.
