Braided Buns with Flaxseeds and Salt

Ingredients

  • Butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Wheat Flour - 7.9 oz
  • Dry yeast - 2 teaspoons
  • Water - ¾ cup
  • Brown Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Flaxseeds - 3 tablespoons

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Water (slightly warmer than room temperature) + yeast + sugar. After 5–10 minutes, a yeast mixture is formed.

Step 2

Flour + salt + melted butter + flaxseeds + yeast mixture. This forms the dough (you can knead it by hand, starting from the point when the yeast and flour have absorbed the liquid). Place the soft dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and put it in an oven preheated to 122°F for 5 minutes, then turn it off. Leave for 1 hour.

Step 3

After an hour, take out the dough (it has risen), place it on a floured surface, and divide it into 8 pieces using a sharp knife. Lightly coat each piece in flour and shape it into a long sausage, then form a loop with it, wrapping the ends around (in 2 twists). Place on a baking sheet greased with butter. Leave for another 30 minutes.

Step 4

10 minutes before the end of the 30 minutes, preheat the oven to 428°F.

Step 5

Before baking, brush the buns with lightly beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake in a closed oven for 15 minutes. Let cool slightly on a rack (to prevent the bottom crust from getting soggy from condensation).
