Breadsticks with Sesame and Anise
Ingredients
- Star anise - 0.2 oz
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Water - 6 fl oz
- Salt - to taste
- Toasted Sesame - 1.8 oz
- Dry yeast - 0.2 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Rub the yeast into the flour until a uniform crumb forms. Add salt, then water. Knead the dough for 2 to 3 minutes until it starts to come together into a ball. Leave it to rise for 1 hour.
Step 2
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and flatten it into a rectangle approximately 15 by 30 cm and 1 cm thick. Sprinkle part of the sesame and anise mixture over the dough and press down lightly. Fold the top part of the dough down and press it, then sprinkle with seeds. Fold the bottom third of the dough up and press it. Sprinkle the top of the resulting roll with seeds.
Step 3
Cut the dough into 10 strips and twist each one several times, stretching it lengthwise. Roll the sticks in the seeds.
Step 4
Place the sticks on a baking sheet and cover with a towel, leaving them for 20 minutes.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 428°F and bake the sticks for about 10 minutes. You can spray the oven walls with water.
