Description
Buns — Easter Buns
Ingredients
- Milk - 6 fl oz
- Manitoba Flour - 17.6 oz
- Brown Sugar - 1.8 oz
- Powdered Sugar - 2.1 oz
- Butter - 1.8 oz
- Sugar - 0.9 oz
- Raisins - 1.8 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 2 pieces
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Dry yeast - 0.2 oz
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Clove - 1 piece
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Orange zest - 1 piece
- Nutmeg - a pinch
- Salt - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the flour with brown sugar, refined and granulated, spices, and the grated zest of half an orange and half a lemon.
Step 2
Pour warm milk with dissolved yeast into the flour. Add two eggs, salt, and softened butter. Knead the dough and add raisins. Leave the dough to rise in a warm place for two hours.
Step 3
Divide the dough into 12 pieces, form balls, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and cover with a towel. Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes.
Step 4
Mix the yolk with 1 tablespoon of milk, brush the surface of the balls with it. Make slight cross cuts on top with a knife coated in butter. Bake at 392°F for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 356°F and bake for another 5 minutes.
Step 5
Dissolve the powdered sugar with one tablespoon of milk. Using a piping bag, apply a cross shape on the surface of the baked buns and let dry for 30–40 minutes (before applying the pattern, the buns should cool down; otherwise, the sugar glaze will run off).
