Description
The finished zest can be used to decorate a cake. If desired, serve the preserved citrus syrup with the cake.
Ingredients
- Lemon - 3 pieces
- Oranges - 3 pieces
- Sugar - 7.1 oz
- Water - 4 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine 200 g of sugar and 60 ml of water. Stir over heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not bring to a boil.
Step 2
Add the chopped peels of the lemons and oranges. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat and let cool. Drain the zest, reserving the syrup.
